Mayra Moon is a multi-talented artist and writer based in Southern Arizona.
She works across film, photography, and text, exploring intimacy and the tension beneath the surface, often focusing on what is felt but unspoken.

As an artist who contains multitudes, Mayra is drawn to emotional undercurrents, shifting identities, and the details most people overlook. Born in Hermosillo, Sonora, in the heart of the Sonoran Desert, she was also shaped by time spent living in California and across The Midwest. Her perspective is rooted in movement, memory, and the ways we carry experience. Travel continues to inspire her- deepening her attention to place, atmosphere, and connection.

 

She is a member of &all, a Tucson-based collective of femme, queer, and gender-expansive filmmakers committed to collaborative storytelling.

Alongside her personal projects, Mayra works as a producer and assistant director, supporting other filmmakers and bringing care, creativity, clarity, and momentum to set. She works on sets across narrative, commercial, documentary, and experimental forms.

She’s currently in post-production on Candy, a short film she wrote and directed, and developing two new projects: Overflow, a quiet, haunting short film about loss, and Light, a visually collaborative poetry book.
